Policies for Delivery, Shipping, and Returns

The Artful Lodger has built its business over the last two decades by offering quality and unique home furnishings to the central Virginia and surrounding areas. One of the most important and final aspects of your purchase is the delivery of your furniture, and for this reason we recommend our Local WhiteGloveDelivery service whenever possible.  As furniture tends to be heavy and bulky, it is easily damaged during transit, shipping, and on delivery into your home. To alleviate any issues in this critical step we utilize our own employees and delivery truck, assuring a timely and error free delivery almost every time.   We will haul away the furniture you are replacing, and orient your new and existing furniture exactly where you want it in your home. Deliveries take place Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 4:30 pm and we are usually able to arrive within 30 minutes of our appointment time.

We also offer both White Glove in-home and Curbside delivery nationwide through outside delivery services. Please contact us for delivery options and pricing in your area. 

What if my order arrives damaged?

If delivery is on our own truck please notify our drivers and have them contact us before you sign for the delivery. If drivers have left please take photos and email as well as contacting us.

If delivery is from an outside carrier it is very important that you inspect furniture closely before signing for delivery or letting the driver leave. Contact us immediately if damage is found. Take photos of damaged items and damaged packaging and note any damage on paperwork before signing. Obtain a copy or photo of the paperwork with your damage comments. Keep all original packaging until the issue is resolved. We will work with you and the shipping company to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. This may involve a repair, replacing the part of furniture damaged, or a replacement item.  

Returns and Cancellations 

The Artful Lodger is proud of the products we carry and want our customers to be happy so we offer a 10 day return period on in stock purchases.  Items must be in the same condition it was delivered, left the store in, or was shipped in. Customer is responsible for freight and delivery charges to and from the store or manufacturer on returned items that were not damaged in transit. At our discretion items may be refused or experience a restocking fee if they show signs of wear or use.

Refunds are made in the same form of original payment or store credit. Please allow 1 to 2 weeks for processing once we receive the item back. If the item is returned in its original condition and packaging you will receive a full refund minus any shipping fees you paid on the order. You are responsible for shipping non damaged returned items back to us.

Merchandise that is not returnable

Special Order items may not be cancelled or returned more than 24 hours after placing an order. Special orders are anything that is not stocked in our store or warehouse.

Gift cards are non-returnable and non-refundable.

Mattresses, Bedding, and Pillows or non-returnable.

Items damaged or showing signs of normal wear and tear may not be returned.

Clearance and as is sale items may not be returned.
